WILLIAMS LEADS SAINTS TO 3-0 VICTORY OVER ST. JOHN’S

The FCSAA #8 Santa Fe Saints won their third straight Mid-Florida Conference match on Tuesday evening in Gainesville, defeating St. John’s River State College 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-20) to move to 12-7 overall and 3-2 in MFC play.  SF has now won their last nine sets in a row.

Nadine Williams was a force once again for the Saints, tallying 14 kills to go with 13 digs.  Sterling Williamson provided 10 kills, and Ashton Marshall had 19 digs.  Coach Nick Cheronis was happy with the way Santa Fe was able to adjust their game to get the victory.

“We only had three blocks, but 79 digs,” said Cheronis.  “It’s good to see we have different ways to win.”

The Saints will face a tough challenge on Thursday, October 6 when they travel to Ocala to battle the College of Central Florida.  The Patriots defeated SF in Gainesville on September 20, 3-1 in a closely contested match.
