On A night when eight sophomores played the final home game of their Santa Fe career, the Saints came away victorious, handling Florida State College-Jacksonville 3-1.  The win moves the Saints to the brink of a postseason berth.  Should Daytona State defeat Lake Sumter tonight, SF (14-8, 5-3 MFC) would be in the FCSAA Tournament, or they can clinch with a win against St. John’s River on Thursday in Palatka.

The Saints were efficient offensively, hitting .379 as a team, and were especially good in the first two sets.  Defensively they totaled 101 digs and 12 blocks, eight by Meraiah Hill, giving her 104 on the season.  Nadine Williams led with 27 digs, and Ashton Marshall had 22.  Sheyanne Sullivan led the offensive game with 12 kills.

“If we can be gritty and play through mistakes, we can beat anyone,” said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.

SF will hit the road for their final three matches, starting with a match against St. John’s River on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Palatka.
