The time is fast approaching for the 18th Annual Trashformations: Recycled Art Show & Competition. This is an opportunity to transform items that would otherwise be “trash” and turn them into original works of art. The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, the Office of Waste Alternatives and the Florida Museum of Natural History invite middle school, high school, and college students to enter artwork consisting of 70% or more recycled/recyclable/reused/salvaged/repurposed materials.

Cash prizes will be awarded for winning entries in middle school, high school, and college level categories. The competition begins at 6:00 p.m. on November 18, 2016, at the Florida Museum of Natural History. The Trashformations exhibit is free and open to the public. There will be a special awards ceremony and reception for all participating students, their families, and teachers after the judging is complete. Participating artists are asked to enter the competition online at [AlachuaCounty.us/Trashformations]AlachuaCounty.us/Trashformations by November 11, 2016, and have artwork completed and dropped off at the Florida Museum of Natural History on November 17, 2016 between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
