The Santa Fe Saints are seeded in the top half of the 2016 NJCAA Volleyball Championships bracket, checking in at #8 after the release of the seeding and brackets this afternoon. Santa Fe and Western Arizona will match-up on Thursday, November 17 at 3 p.m. EST. Matches can be watched live at www.njcaatv.com. The tournament is single elimination winner’s bracket, however, there is a consolation bracket for losing teams.
SF will play Arizona Western College, a team that went 25-2 in the regular season, and defeated Eastern Arizona College in the Region I Championship last Friday to earn their spot. The Matadors started 2016 with a 22-0 record and didn’t take their first loss until October 19.
AWC is led by outside hitter Maria-Fernanda Sandoval who accumulated 312 kills in 88 sets played.
Should the Saints win their match against Arizona Western, they will face the winner of #1 Panola College and #16 Hill CC. Panola is coached by former Florida Gator All-American Amber McCray. McCray learned under the tutelage of Mary Wise and current Santa Fe Head Coach Nick Cheronis.
