SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SAINTS DEFEAT DAYTONA IN FINAL SECONDS, 74-72

Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints led for a majority of the game Saturday afternoon against Daytona State and pulled out the victory in the final seconds thanks to two free throws by Arianna Emanuel-Wright.  The win moves SF to 10-6 overall and keeps them undefeated in Mid-Florida Conference play at 3-0.

Tabitha Odabe was dominant for Santa Fe, racking up a career high 20 rebounds and also chipped in 15 points on offense.

The score was tied at 13-13 after the first quarter, but the Saints used a run in the second period to go into halftime up 36-29.  The expanded their lead by two at the end of the third to make it 58-49.

The Falcons scratched their way back in the game in the fourth.  They kept themselves in it with the three-point shot, connecting on 52 percent (11-for-21) over the course of the contest.

The Saints held tough through the Falcons rally, and the two free throws by Emanuel-Wright with two seconds on the clock put the game away.

Emanuel-Wright led Santa Fe with 20 points and Corey Staples added 15.

Santa Fe will continue in MFC play when the College of Central Florida makes the trip to Gainesville on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.  That night will be “Student Appreciation Night” at the SF Gym.
