Pokemon GO’s surprising on-campus arrival in July 2016 presented Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL a unique dilemma, embrace the global phenomenon or ignore it. In a manner of days, SF’s Communications & Creative Services team strategized and rapidly executed their highly successful Pokemon GO @ SF campaign.
Leveraging Pokemon GO’s intersections with the College’s pre-existing, self-guided learning experiences, the campaign was developed to drive awareness of, and drive traffic to learning destinations like the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, SF Rock Cycle Garden, Organic Garden and the SF Art Walk.

National Watermelon day at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL, connected to a larger audience than its usual following and produced above average results. Carving our logo into a watermelon and photographing that watermelon on campus with our iconic new Santa Fe College Tower in the background gave immediate recognition to those who already knew about us. The post also provided new brand recognition for those who may not have known about us.
