Santa Fe College IPS Partners with GHF for Free CPR Classes

IPS GHF CPR ClassThe Santa Fe College Institute of Public Safety joined forces with Gainesville Health & Fitness Center for Women to hold free CPR training last Sunday, Feb. 26.

The classes were open to all members of the local community. The instructors included IPS Emergency Medical Services Program Professor Jon Duff, Alachua Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jim Richeson, and Deputy Richeson’s wife Emily. All participants successfully completed the training and earned American Heart Association CPR certification.

“Community outreach is one of the most important roles we play at IPS,” said Director Tom Ackerman, “and when the outreach involves a cause that literally can save lives, there is no higher calling than that.” IPS plans to offer additional free CPR events in the future.
