Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #8 Santa Fe College Saints (17-7, 2-1 MFC) saw their six game win streak come to an end on Saturday, falling to Florida State College-Jacksonville (11-12, 1-2 MFC) on the road 5-3.  SF won the first two games Wednesday and Friday before the Bluewave picked up the victory Saturday.  The teams will meet for a fourth and final time on April 10 in Gainesville.

Sean Gabel (3-1) started on the hill for the Saints and allowed two run in 4.2 innings.  FSC-J got to SF reliever Anthony Auletta for three runs in 1.1 innings and Chris Hopkins turned in one of his best performances of the season, twirling two shutout innings with four strikeouts.

The Bluewave plated a run in the first and one in the third before the Saints got on the board in the fourth with a run to make it 2-1.

FSC-J padded their lead in the sixth, putting three runs across on three hits and one SF error.  The damage could have been worse as the Saints were able to escape a bases loaded jam to end the inning.

Santa Fe got two runs back in the seventh to make it 5-3, but couldn’t capitalize further with the bases loaded and one out.

Eight players had at least one hit.  Wyatt Meisterhans and Mikey Navarrette had two hits each.

The Saints will be back in action on Monday, March 7 at 12:30 PM in double header action against Macomb CC.
