Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #15/FCSAA #6 Santa Fe College Saints (30-9, 13-3 MFC) continued their recent offensive onslaught Monday afternoon in their first game of a three game series with Mid-Florida Conference foe Daytona State, scoring 14 runs on 16 hits to run rule the Falcons in seven innings.

Daytona actually struck first, plating a run in the first on two hits and a SF error.

Santa Fe College answered immediately, scoring two in the bottom of the first thanks to a pair of hits and a Daytona error. Stephen Smith had an RBI in the inning.

The Saints scored runs in each of the five innings, scoring in every inning of the game.

The two big innings were the third where SF plated four and the fifth when they put five runs across on five hits. Meisterhans homered in the fourth and the Saints scored their last run of the game in the sixth on an error.

Kyle Morton (6-2) started on the hill for SF and went five innings, allowing just one run and struck out five. Chris Hopkins, Colt Mink, and Tyler Moore pitched in relief. Moore tossed a scoreless inning, allowing just a single hit.

Six Santa Fe College players finished will multiple hits. Mikey Navarrete was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI, Wyatt Meisterhans was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a homerun and two RBI, Nick Lentz was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Kyle Phillips finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI, Stephen Smith was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, and Danny DiMare was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Brandon Hernandez had a game high four RBI.

The win keeps the Saints ahead of St. John’s River State College (14-4 MFC) in the Mid-Florida Conference standings.

Santa Fe College and Daytona will meet again Wednesday, April 5, in Daytona Beach for the second game of their series at 3 p.m. They will wrap the series up Friday, April 7, in Gainesville at 3 p.m. That game in Gainesville will be broadcast live on the Saints Sports Network.
