Arianna Emanuel-Wright Named Second Team All-American

April 20, 2017 – SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College sophomore guard Arianna Emanuel-Wright completed one of the best individual seasons in Saints women’s basketball history in 2016-17 and was recently honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association as a Second Team All-American.

According to SF head coach Chanda Stebbins, Arianna completely reinvented her game over her two-year career at Santa Fe College.  She improved her shooting percentage from 33% to 40% from her freshman to sophomore year and increased her three-point shooting 11% to 37% as a sophomore.  The biggest improvement came at the free throw line where she bumped her percentage up to 80% from 60% as a freshman.

She finished her sophomore season as the seventh leading scorer in the nation (20.3 ppg) and second in the FCSAA behind Lawriell Wilson at Tallahassee CC.

Emanuel-Wright recorded eight games of 25 or more points and three 30 plus point games, including a high of 34 against Broward in the Saints FCSAA Tournament win over the Seahawks.  She made eight three pointers in a game twice and seven threes in a game once.

In addition to her All-American recognition, she was named FCSAA All-State, FCSAA All Tournament, All Mid-Florida Conference, and was the Player of the Year in the MFC.

She has signed a scholarship to continue her career at the University of North Florida.  In addition to her success on the floor, Emanuel-Wright is a past recipient of All-FCSAA and All Mid-Florida Conference Academic Teams as a freshman.  The 2016-17 teams have not been released as of the writing of this release.

“I am so proud of Arianna and what this signifies for our team,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins.  “Any time a player receives an All-American award you know they are representing a solid group of teammates and a successful team.  What makes Ari so special is how hard she works.  She really dedicated herself to improving her shot over the summer and even on game days during the season.  She consistently put up extra shots and her efforts are indicated by the huge increases in production and efficiency.  We are all very proud of her and her accomplishment.”
