President Sasser Commends Work Ethic of SF Faculty at Convocation

Dr. Jackson Sasser addresses the audience at the 2018 Spring Convocation at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts HallJanuary 5, 2018 – Santa Fe College’s spring convocation was held Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the SF Fine Arts Hall. SF President Dr. Jackson N. Sasser spoke to attendees about encouraging students to follow their dreams and encouraged a spirit of openness and inclusivity.

Sasser spoke of Leonardo da Vinci and the practice of sfumato, an artistic technique of using tone and color to shade into one another, creating softer lines. Sasser said that faculty can use the same concepts by not strictly thinking within the lines of their teaching disciplines and enabling students to think critically about the world around them.

Dr. Sasser encouraged the faculty and staff to continue to strive for excellence, not accept the status-quo and to push both their students and themselves to reach greater heights in the new year.
