SF Basketball: Men’s Season Ends, Women Heading to FCSAA Tournament

February 28, 2018 – The Santa Fe Saints men’s basketball season came to an end Tuesday night in Ocala, as they were defeated by the College of Central Florida 105-82 in the Mid-Florida Conference Final.

CF shot 64 percent from the field, and shot over 70 percent in the first half, taking a 55-40 lead at halftime.

The Saints had a balanced scoring attack with D-Juan Taylor-Hodge, Ivan Smith, and Darrell Jones scoring 13 points each, Sean Flood led the way with 14

SF finishes the season with a 21-11 record.

Meanwhile, the Saints women’s basketball team punched their ticket to the FCSAA Tournament with a 76-47 win over Florida State College – Jacksonville.

Janasia Law finished just two rebounds shy of a triple-double in the winning effort, scoring 16 points to go with 11 assists and eight rebounds.

SF (17-12, 6-3 MFC) began the game with a 17-13 lead through one quarter and stepped their defense up over the next 10 minutes, taking a 13 point lead into the half.

SF capped the game with their best offensive quarter of the game, scoring 24 points to put away the 76-47 win.

Brianna Richardson scored in double figures for the Saints, finishing with 14 points and six rebounds.  Ivana Boyd had another solid game, scoring 14 points to go with eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.

The Saints have now qualified for 10 of the last 12 FCSAA Tournaments.  They will face off against Suncoast Conference champions, FCSAA No. 4 ranked Florida Southwestern State College Thursday, March 8, at 1 p.m.  Fans can watch every game of the tournament on the FCSAA Sports YouTube Channel.
