SF Baseball UPDATE: Saints Win Twice Over Weekend – Monday Game Postponed

UPDATE: Monday’s game against Daytona State College has been postponed. The makeup date is scheduled for Sunday, April 15, at 1 p.m.

April 9, 2018 – The Santa Fe Saints picked up a couple more wins over the weekend, defeating Seminole State 9-1 in eight innings Friday and earning a 16-9 win Saturday at Daytona. Devin Hemenway was lights out on the mound Friday, and Brock Edge hammered two home runs to pace the NJCAA No. 2 Saints past the Raiders. For Hemenway it’s his second straight double-digit strikeout game. He fanned 13 batters a week after striking out 11 against Lake Sumter.

Saturday, Andrew Eyster and the Santa Fe Saints had to rally late against Daytona State College, scoring four runs in the eighth to erase a 9-6 Falcons lead. They would tack on six runs in the ninth to put the game away. The win moves them to 33-6 overall and 13-2 in the Mid-Florida Conference.

Eyster had one of his best games of the season, going 4-for-5 with a home run (12), two doubles, four runs scored and three RBI. He’s now hitting .424 with 29 extra base hits in 158 at bats.

Tyler Jones (3-2) picked up the win 3.1 innings in relief, striking out four and allowing just two hits. Garrett Mathes earned the save (5) with two innings of work.

UPDATE: Monday’s scheduled game against Daytona has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled for a 1 p.m. start time Sunday, April 15.
