Reward Issued for Missing SF Teaching Zoo Animals

June 8, 2018 – The Santa Fe College Police Department is continuing their investigation into the theft of animals from the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. Crime Stoppers has issued a reward of up to $500 for the safe return of each of the four remaining missing animals taken from the SF Teaching Zoo.

A total of 11 animals were taken from the zoo during two burglaries overnight May 23 and May 29. Seven of the animals have since been recovered, and three individuals connected to the case have been arrested. The last four animals, two gopher tortoises and two box turtles from the May 23 overnight burglary are still missing. The gopher tortoises were receiving weekly medical treatment at the zoo and have not been able to receive their necessary medication in over two weeks.
