June 20, 2018 – Area school students preparing to enter the fifth through ninth grade are enjoying the latest summer program at Santa Fe College. “Jambo! Out of Africa” camp has students learning about African food, culture, language and people. This week, campers learned how to create bows and earrings, danced to music, picked out their own names in Swahili and made place cards to practice vocabulary.

The weeklong program, which wraps up Friday, June 22, introduces the basics of African culture through Swahili language, music, dance, culture and crafts. Students enrolled in the program are “traveling” to all the regions of Africa and gaining a valuable cultural experience.
