October 19, 2018 – The Santa Fe Saints volleyball team defeated the Pirates of Pensacola State College in three straight sets to improve to 17-2 overall and 4-1 Panhandle Conference Thursday evening at PSC.

The Saints won the first set 25-21 and set two 25-16 before closing out the match with a 25-19 win.

“We had a little trouble getting into a playing groove in the first set,” said head coach Nick Cheronis. “I’m sure the layoff due to the weather played a role. The good news is we responded well in sets two and three.”

Leah Wilcox led the Saints with 10 kills while Aspen Dangren recorded seven and Natalia Martinez six. Jocelyn Garcia registered five blocks.

The NJCAA No. 18 ranked Saints will stay in Pensacola to face Florida State College of Jacksonville Friday night for the Panhandle Conference Championship. The loser of that match will play Hillsborough CC for a berth in the FCSAA State Tournament.
