October 24, 2018 – Last weekend, the Santa Fe College Model United Nations Team hosted the 13th Annual Florida Model United Nations Conference. The conference featured a hundred and fifty college students from all over Florida, including 15 from SF, attempting to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.
Chantel Hover and Marlon Bruce served as Assistant Directors on Security Council and General Assembly, respectively. Our students walked away with three Honorable Delegation Awards for their portrayal of Japan, Canada, and Colombia, one Distinguished Delegation Award for their portrayal of Germany, and one Outstanding Delegation Award for their portrayal of the Russian Federation.
In addition to this recognition of excellence, our students grappled the difficult topics of NATO deployment in Eastern Europe, the South China Sea dispute, sea-level rise in the Caribbean, and food security.
