SF Teaching Zoo Holding Workshops for Citizen Scientists

January 11, 2019 – The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo wants you to become a citizen scientist with FrogWatch USA. Frogwatch USA is a program of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) that offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the wetlands in their community, identify local frog calls and report data.

Frogs are an integral link in the food chain and are indicators of an ecosystem’s health, but their populations are declining. As a volunteer, your data will aid in the conservation of these cherished animals.

The SF Teaching Zoo will be hosting training workshops for potential volunteers Thursday, Jan. 24, and Wednesday, Jan. 30. Both workshops will be held at 6 p.m. Registration for the sessions is available online through Eventbrite.

No previous frog or science background is needed, only a desire to learn about the world around you.

Please contact Jade Salamone at frogwatch@sfcollege.edu or call 352-395-7358 if you have further questions.
