Volunteers Needed for Vietnam Veterans Tribute March 30

March 26, 2019 – Santa Fe College’s Veterans and Military Success Services is seeking volunteers to help with the Vietnam Veterans Tribute, which will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Veterans Memorial Park on Tower Road in Gainesville. The official program begins at 10:45 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., however, volunteers are needed to help with setting up beginning at 8 a.m. This work includes helping unload supplies from vendor cars, setting up tables and tents, generally doing whatever is asked of you until we are all set up. There are also volunteers needed for the cleanup efforts, which will go from 3 – 5 p.m.

The other opportunity will be to cover an area near the food trucks, entertainment and display areas. Help is needed directing people around the area, picking up trash, emptying trash bins and assisting vendors in that area. For this, we have established two time slots although you are welcome to work for the whole event. We do want you to take the opportunity to visit every aspect of the event and enjoy the day as well. The slots are 9:30 a.m. – noon and noon – 3 p.m. The greatest need at this time is for the afternoon slots. We are asking volunteers to park at the schools if possible to allow ample parking for our veterans at the park. There will be golf cart shuttles going from the schools to the event throughout the day.

Volunteer check-in will be in the VA tent to the left of the Freedom Center. Point of contact is Karen Jaye at Karen.Jay@VA.gov or 352-278-5293.
