Santa Fe Singers Present “Sing Into Spring” Concert April 25, 2019, in SF Fine Arts Hall

April 10, 2019 – The Santa Fe Singers will present their annual “Sing Into Spring” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the  Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall on the Northwest Campus.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $9 for seniors, children and University of Florida students; and free for SF students, faculty and staff with college ID. For ticket information, call the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181 or visit the Fine Arts ticket website at sfcollege.edu/finearts.

“‘Sing Into Spring’ is more than just a choral concert,” explained Music professor Lynn Sandefur, who directs the singers and teaches vocal music classes at Santa Fe College. “This is a show that includes many different types of song in solo, ensemble and choral performances. We’ll feature new arrangements of songs you know and like as well as songs that comfort and entertain.”

On the program are selections from opera, spirituals, Broadway, folk and pop in addition to specialty numbers from talented soloists.

The Santa Fe Big Band, directed by Dr. Steve Bingham, Ph.D., will accompany the singers on a nostalgic trip back to the Big Band days for “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “New York, New York” and “Sing, Sing, Sing.”

Members of the Santa Fe Singers include students from many majors other than music. “Sing Into Spring” will include 65 students in the chorus, accompanying the chorus or working backstage with professional technical theater staff members.

“Come join us for a fun-filled evening as we ‘Sing Into Spring’!” Sandefur urged.

Sponsors and partners of the Fine Arts Department’s performance series for the 2018-2019 academic year include:  Santa Fe College; Santa Fe College Student Life; Santa Fe College Foundation; Best Western Gateway Grand; Visit Gainesville; and Culture Builds Florida.
