July 5, 2019 – Santa Fe College’s East Gainesville Instruction (EGI) will host its annual Community Forum presenting their annual report at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 2505 NE 8th Avenue in Gainesville.

At the forum, organizers will discuss the educational outreach, parent empowerment, workforce development, faith-based partnerships and technology and literacy outreach programs they have undertaken.

EGI, founded by President Jackson Sasser in 2002, has been fighting poverty and assisting citizens throughout the county by offering educational outreach for all ages, vocational training, community empowerment events and access to today’s necessary technology.

“Our sole effort has been to collaborate with faith-based and community leaders in an effort to partner for positive change, with priority given to the East Gainesville community,” said EGI Executive Director Karen Cole-Smith. “We want to recruit, reclaim, retain, and re-train all those who want to be empowered through education at our great college.”

The annual forum relies on the input and participation from parents and interested community members to provide suggestions for what EGI should be doing to empower participants, as well as an opportunity to spread the word about events and programs currently offered.

Anyone interested in attending should RSVP by Thursday, Sept. 5, at EGI@sfcollege.edu or by calling 352-395-5645.
