SF Brain Bowl Team Wins Regional Championship

Santa Fe College’s Brain Bowl team traveled to Valencia College in Orlando to compete in the combined East and West Central Florida Regional tournament. Brain Bowl is an academic quiz tournament in which teams of 4 players answer questions about humanities, social sciences, mathematics  and science. The SF team consisted of Matthew Gilison, Michael Granto, Alejandro Jimenez-Tellado, Alexa Rivers, and Natasha Ruffner.
SF won the East Regional championship and qualified for the Florida State Championship Tournament, which will be held in late March in Ocala. SF Brain Bowl player Matthew Gilinson placed first in the individual rankings, scoring an average of 57.5 points per game, while Michael Granto placed 6th with 28.75 points per game. Other FCS schools that qualified for the state championship are Valencia, Florida Gateway College and the College of Central Florida.
