June 29, 2020 – Santa Fe College Police Officer Fred Long will be retiring Tuesday, July 30. Officer Long was a recipient of the Career Service STAR Award, as well as a VALOR honoree from local radio station WSKY for service to the community.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for physical distancing, there will not be a gathering in his honor, however, the SFPD plans to have a modified celebration that will include adding his name to the Walk of Heroes in the SFPD building on the Northwest Campus.
