Party for the Planet Clean up and Art Contest

  • April 3 – Cleanup Day w/ Zoo
  • Art Project – DUE April 12
  • April 22 Party for the Planet (annual tradition by our Zoo)!

In honor of Earth Day, the SF Teaching Zoo is hosting a virtual Party for the Planet throughout the month of April! We will be celebrating on Facebook and Instagram all month long, and providing resources for hands on activities for the community to Spring into Action to conserve nature and create healthy habitats. Each week will have themed activities and resources, and we will introduce some of our animal ambassadors.

Week 1 focuses on keeping habitats clean. If you want to give back to our local wild places, join us and Keep Alachua County Beautiful for a litter cleanup event on Saturday, April 3 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Register yourself or a group at Events Registration | Keep Alachua County Beautiful | KACB. Make sure to include “Spring into Action” in the preferred event location box and details regarding the meetup location will be sent to you.

For Create Week, we are hosting a “Healthy Habitats Art Contest” for grades K-12 in Alachua and Bradford County Schools and Santa Fe/University of Florida college students. Entrants are asked to create their own original artwork sharing their vision of a healthy habitat for a chance to win prizes, have their artwork featured in the zoo, and on the zoo’s social media pages. Voting will take place during Create Week – entries are due by 3 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2021.
