SF Dental Clinic Hosts Event to Benefit Vulnerable Populations in the Community

May 19, 2021 – Last weekend, the Santa Fe College Dental Clinic partnered with FreeD.O.M. Clinic USA to provide free dental services to more than 80 low-income people in the area. Services were provided by faculty and students in SF’s Dental programs, along with local dentists.

In addition to giving students more hands-on training as part of their curriculum, it also gave them the opportunity to serve the community and provide dental care to people otherwise underserved in the community.

“It was fantastic to see our students so willing to get involved,” SF’s Director of Dental programs Tina Treloar said. “Being able to have the event at our dental clinic this year was definitely a special opportunity for us.”

The SF Dental Clinic, located on SF’s Northwest Campus, provides dental services including x-rays, cleanings, fillings and crowns to students, faculty, staff and the general public. The work is performed by SF dental assisting and hygiene students, as well as UF dental students under the supervision of faculty. The SF Dental Clinic, which underwent  a $1.6M renovation in 2018, will begin accepting new appointments in the fall term.
