November 15, 2021 – The Santa Fe College chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) was delighted to host 2021 AFC President Ray Coulter via “Flat Ray” as he travels his way around the state of Florida to the great 28 Florida College System schools. SF President Dr. Paul Broadie II made sure to welcome Flat Ray to SF’s Northwest Campus. Then, it was a whirlwind tour visiting programs, places and people, and learning about the services available to SF students.

A few of those places included the Charles R. Perry Construction Institute (Building O) where each year students work on a house with Habitat for Humanity; the Food Court, the new Learning Commons which provides free tutoring and academic success coaching to SF students; the Dental Clinic where students who will become dental hygienists learn the skills they need and get to work on students, employees and the general public; the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, the only planetarium in North Central Florida; the Jean Klein Rock Cycle Garden, featuring over 20 boulders and named after Jean Klein who taught at SF for 35 years; and the SF Teaching Zoo, the only zoo on a college campus accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
