Grand Re-Opening Of the LGBTQ+ Resource Center

February 25, 2022 – The Santa Fe College LGBTQ+ Resource Center celebrated its Grand Reopening in the S-212 Suite Tuesday, Feb. 22.

President Paul Broadie II, Ph.D. cut the ceremonial rainbow ribbon and both he and Dr. Naima Brown welcomed about 69 students, staff, and faculty into the new space. Director Kalpana Swamy and Specialist JoJo Sacks provided tours and resources throughout the day, while folks came inside for resources and goodie bags.

The new space is larger, brighter and more adaptive to the needs of SF students. It includes a growing library collection and student computer area, as well as a safe and relaxing environment for community building.

Dr. Broadie remarked that as SF grows, he hopes that all the centers may have places like the LGBTQ+ Resource Center and called on all of us to find ways that we can make the college more diverse and inclusive. All individuals, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity are welcomed.

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Come by to check it out, hang out with affirming company, or to learn about how you can support LGBTQ+ individuals on campus and elsewhere.
