SF Chapter of AFC Holds Food Drive April 21

April 12, 2022 – The Santa Fe College chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) will be holding a food drive to benefit Saints Food Share Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the parking circle by the Santa Fe College Police Department. The college community is invited to participate by donating unopened, unexpired non-perishable food items to help SF students and employees experiencing food insecurity. Saints Food Share is always in need of non-perishable proteins, pasta, rice, vegetarian and vegan items, and individually wrapped snacks.

A 2019 College and University Food Bank Alliance (CUFBA) survey of food-insecure college students reported that 32 percent of respondents believed that hunger or housing problems impacted their education. Saints Food Share is fighting hunger and fueling student success by distributing thousands of pounds of non-perishable groceries and baked goods every semester to support SF students and employees experiencing food insecurity.

Do you know a member of the SF community who is experiencing food insecurity? SF faculty and staff can make a referral by sending an e-mail to sarah.blanc@sfcollege.edu. The SF chapter of AFC thanks the students, faculty, and staff in advance for helping those most in need.
