Community Events Scheduled as Plastic Free EcoChallege Wraps Up

July 25, 2022 – The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is heading into the last week of the Plastic Free EcoChallenge and has a couple great, free community events coming up.

Tuesday, July 26, at 6 p.m., there is a Zero Waste Lifestyle & Community Workshop at the zoo with presenter Amanda Waddle from Zero Waste Gainesville. This event will take place in our air conditioned classroom, and is free to attend. Due to space limitations, registration is required. Use this link to register – http://www.eventbrite.com/…/zero-waste-lifestyle….

On Saturday, July 30, Current Problems is hosting a creek cleanup at Sweetwater Preserve beginning at 9 a.m. Supplies are provided – all you need to bring is water, sunscreen, good boots and a hat.

SF Teaching Zoo Zero Wasters team members can earn points by attending these events. It’s not too late to join the team and the challenge runs through July 31. All team members receive discounted zoo admission, 20% off at Life Unplastic and Alachua Habitat for Humanity Restore, 15% off at the Humane Society of North Central Florida Thrift Store and 1 free month of composting with Beaten Path Compost.
