SF’s College Senate Executive Council Welcomes Three New Officers This Summer

February 15, 2023 –The College Senate Executive Council will have three new leaders once the spring 2023 term comes to an end.

George Tedder was the only nominee for President, and will take over for Kathie Russell, who served in leadership both as Presiding Officer (2018-2021) and President (2021-2023). Russell, who was also a Representative in the Senate for the English department from 2014-2018, declared in the fall that she would not be seeking reelection.

Diana Matthews was the only nominee for Presiding Officer. She will take over for Nik Bajorek, who served the Senate in that position since May of 2022.

Jess O’Hearn was the only candidate who declared for the position of Senate Secretary, a position held by Jay Anderson since January 2019.

The three outgoing elected officials will continue to serve in leadership through the end of the spring term. Tedder, Matthews and O’Hearn will assume their leadership roles at the end of the spring term. The first Executive Council meeting under their leadership will be Tuesday, May 9.
