ABFS Black History Month Feature: Rhonda Wilson

February 22, 2023—In honor of Black History Month, Santa Fe College’s Association of Black Faculty and Staff (ABFS) will offer information important to SF and the community at large.

This week, the topic is – The Star Center Theatre

Star Center Theatre is a performing arts space for children in the community started by Rhonda Wilson in 2000.

“There are so many kids that just need somebody to believe in something they do,” said Rhonda Wilson, founder of the Star Center.

Prompting students to engage with the arts, the Start Center Theatre has performed Broadway shows and musicals such as: Annie, Cinderella, Hairspray, Matilda, High School Musical, Detroit 67, The Color Purple, Shrek Jr, The Wiz and many more!

Rhonda Wilson graduated from the University of Florida and has continued to pour into the community as a musical producer, director, and classroom educator. She has been recognized for her Excellence in Theatre Education by The Tony Award and by Carnegie Mellon.
