SF’s Fall Convocation Is August 18

July 24, 2023 – Santa Fe College President Paul Broadie II, Ph.D. invites the college community to celebrate the start of the 2023-2024 academic year with fall convocation to be held in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall Friday, Aug. 18, beginning at 9 a.m.

This year’s convocation will feature student stories, updates from Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, information on upcoming projects from Facilities Services, as well as recognition of employee service to the college. During his remarks, President Broadie will review progress made over the last year on existing college programs and initiatives but will focus primarily on how we advance the college to meet future student and community demands. There will also be updates on the Fabrication lab, Academy of Science of Technology, the Automotive Training Center and the upcoming changes for the Museum of Earth Sciences and Teaching Zoo facilities.

The guest speaker at convocation will be Scott Van Pelt, associate director of the Wharton Graduate Communication Program at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is also a lecturer. He will be talking about the evolution of higher education and the importance of change to drive success.

The college community is invited for light refreshments at 8:30 a.m. leading up to convocation, with an option for lunch for those attending in person. For anyone unable to attend convocation in person, a link to watch a live stream of convocation will be posted in a later update.
