SF Prepares for the Opening of the Academy of Science and Technology

August 7, 2023 – The Santa Fe College Academy for Science and Technology will welcome its inaugural class of incoming ninth-graders Thursday, Aug. 10. In advance of the opening, the Academy is inviting incoming students and their parents to visit Building R, Room 001 on the Northwest Campus on Tuesday, Aug. 8, to meet the teachers and pick up backpacks and laptops. Students who are unable to attend will be able to pick these items up on the first day of classes.

SF employees should note that once the school opens, access to the inside will require checking in at the main office. As a general rule, SF employees will not be able to walk through the school while students are present. The college is excited to welcome the students and appreciates the college community respecting this cohort of students as they continue their academic journey.

The Academy will generally follow the same calendar as other Alachua County Public School facilities. The school day runs from 8:03 a.m. until 2:15 p.m., and parents of Academy students will be able to drop off and pick up their children by the Santa Fe College Police Department in Parking Lots 6 and 7.

SF employees can expect increased traffic on North Road as early as 7:30 a.m. and as late as 3 p.m. as parents drop off and pick up their students. Employees who park in Lots 6 and 7 are asked to exercise caution and expect increased traffic in the lot while parents are dropping off and picking up their children at the Academy.
