Cardiovascular Sonographers are often referred to as echocardiographers or vascular technologists. These technologists use ultrasound to create images of the cardiovascular system and Doppler technology to collect vital hemodynamic information from the heart and peripheral vascular system.

The goals of the SF Cardiovascular Sonography program are to prepare competent entry-level cardiovascular technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for adult echocardiography and prepare competent entry-level cardiovascular technologists in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for non- invasive vascular study.
