September 22, 2023 – The Santa Fe College Chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC at SF) is organizing a Fall Social event. This gathering is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium on SF’s Northwest Campus, 3000 NW 83 Street, Gainesville.

The complimentary event aims to strengthen bonds among members, offer a space for networking, and expand their understanding of the wonders of our night skies.

Attendees will have the privilege of experiencing a night sky tour hosted by our esteemed planetarium director, James C. Albury. He will present “The Tale of Two Doggies,” the fascinating story of Orion’s two hunting dogs. He will also provide guidance on identifying them.

This event promises an educational treat and a fantastic opportunity to socialize with peers. Members are invited to attend and bring a prospective member as a guest. This is a chance for interested individuals to learn more about the association and engage with its current members. Light refreshments will be available.

The Santa Fe College Chapter of the Association of Florida Colleges stands at the forefront of advocating for and serving all SF employees. Committed to educational service, legislative opportunities and community leadership, AFC at SF supports the broader mission of the Florida community college system. In tandem with AFC at SF’s goals, Santa Fe College, a comprehensive public institution in North Central Florida, enriches the community and students’ lives through its dedication to excellence in teaching, innovative programs and student services. These collective efforts align with the values and mission of the broader Association of Florida Colleges.

“Santa Fe College’s Association of Florida Colleges Chapter is more than just a professional group—it’s a community,” said Steve Grosteffon, Chapter President of AFC at SF. “Our Fall Social at the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium is a celebration of that spirit of camaraderie and continuous learning. Not only will attendees have the opportunity to network with fellow members, but they’ll also be treated to a fascinating night sky tour, showcasing the wonders of our universe. It’s about connecting with each other while also connecting with the larger world around us.”
