January 2, 2024 – The Santa Fe Saints Women’s basketball team ended 2023 facing two formidable opponents.
On Dec. 29, 2023, the Saints took on the then-19th nationally ranked Chipola College Lady Indians. The entire team fought to overcome its toughest test of the season, but fell short, losing 72-64.
The Saints hoped to turn their fortunes around the next day. However, the undefeated Northwest Florida State College Raiders ruined those plans. Despite coming out strong in the second half, the Saints lost 84-58.
“In order to be a team that is capable of competing in the region,” Saints Head Coach Russ Jackson said, “we must play the best teams in the region. For the last two nights we have faced teams that have a chance to win the region championship. We now are able to see what we need to work on and get better at for March.”
The Saints challenge the Miami Dade College Lady Sharks on Jan. 6 in Miami. Both teams hope to break their two-game losing streaks.
