Vilma Fuentes’ Sendoff Celebration is Jan. 11

January 4, 2024 – Please join the Academic Affairs Office as they recognize and celebrate Vilma Fuentes’ 20 years of dedicated service at Santa Fe College and congratulate her as she begins her next chapter as Research Faculty at the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University.

Vilma began her SF career in 2003 as an adjunct professor in the Social and Behavioral Sciences department. She was promoted to assistant professor January 2004 and became an associate professor receiving continuing contract in 2008. By 2012, Vilma was promoted to Assistant Vice President in Academic Affairs.

For the past ten years, Vilma has been instrumental in leading the college’s international education initiatives, writing and/or directing 20 federal grants, and managing institutional partnerships with the University of Florida. She has also led and coordinated the college’s baccalaureate programs and sustainability and civic engagement initiatives on behalf of Academic Affairs. Additionally, she has been a significant contributor to institutional accreditation reports over the years.

Colleagues are invited to stop by the President’s Lobby in the Robertson Administration Building, on Thursday, Jan. 11 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for tributes, light refreshments and to wish Vilma success in her future endeavors.
