January 18, 2024 – The Santa Fe Saints Women’s basketball team visited Tampa yesterday to take on the Hillsborough Community College Hawks. The Saints looked to stop their four-game losing streak.

Despite taking the lead in the first quarter, the Saints eventually fell to the Hawks’ defensive onslaught. The Hawks won 80-66.

Saints Head Coach Russ Jackson spoke about the disappointing defeat, saying, “Today’s game boiled down to who wanted it more and Hillsborough did the little things like diving on the floor for loose balls, getting extra possessions, going to the offensive glass, etc. It’s all about effort, energy, execution, and unfortunately today we weren’t able to sustain those things.”

The 6-8 Saints return home to host Florida Southwestern State College next Tuesday, Jan. 23, Game time is 5 p.m.

Come support the Santa Fe Saints at the SF Gym, 3000 NW 83 Street, Gainesville. Admission is free for SF faculty, staff, students and retirees with SFID.
