Harry Tholen Field Dedicated Saturday

Santa Fe College Saints Baseball coach Harry Tholen throws out the first pitch before a ceremony to rename the field in his honor.

February 20, 2024 – Legendary Santa Fe College (SF) Baseball Coach Harry Tholen, a member of four halls of fame, threw out the first pitch at the Saints game last Friday. The college named the baseball field in his honor the next day.

Tholen’s impressive efforts on the field stand second only to the positive impact he made in students’ lives over his 22-year career as head coach and as a volunteer since 2009 under current Coach Johnny Wiggs.

On Saturday, College President Dr. Paul Broadie II told Tholen, “You see these youth, they come here with dreams and aspirations and goals, and it’s people like you that help bring them to reality.”

Tholen addressed the crowd, reflecting on a life spent educating young athletes, saying, “The biggest thing for me is I was able to help players on and off the field. Junior college can be a place for a second chance . . . I want them to become the best people that they can become that do things the right way.”

Located on Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus, Harry Tholen Field is the home of the Saints men’s baseball team. The Saints are currently 11-4 this season.

Come support the Saints during home games. Admission is free.
