Youth Mental Health First Aid Training on Friday, April 5

March 28, 2024 – Santa Fe College is pleased to offer Youth Mental Health First Aid in-person training for its employees and students in partnership with the University of Florida.

  • When: Friday, April 5, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Where: P-163 on the Northwest Campus
  • What: Training on identifying, understanding, and responding to the signs of mental challenges among youth (12-18).

Lunch and coffee will be provided.

This training helps participants understand how to help children and adolescents aged 12-18, who may be experiencing a mental health-related crisis or problem. Topics covered: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, as well as expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care, the impact of social media and bullying.

As we focus on continuous improvement, service excellence, and safety in an environment where many people are experiencing mental health issues or problems, this course helps to equip participants with the tools needed to safely intervene and make appropriate referrals.

There is limited seating and attendees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will need to be present for the entire course to obtain certification. Funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services.
