SAINTS AND INDIAN RIVER SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER, 1-2, 13-2

Ft. Pierce, FL – Morgan McKinney took a shutout into the seventh and final inning of game one, but gave up a two run walk off homerun to spoil an otherwise flawless outing from the sophomore pitcher.  The Saints rebounded in game two to split the doubleheader with Indian River State College.

McKinney went 6.1 innings, giving up only four hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Jeff Moyer drove in the only run of the game for Santa Fe (8-6) in the third inning.  Cory Elasik was the only Saints with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3.

The Saints bounced back with a vengeance in game two, scoring 13 runs on ten hits, including six RBI by Mike Miranda, giving him 25 on the season, the most in the nation.

Tommy Goodman started on the mound for SF and gave up only two runs in six innings, striking out four with only one walk.

Santa Fe scored one in the first on an RBI single Cory Elasik and scored two more in the third on a two RBI single by Miranda.

Ricky Claudio hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth to drive in the fourth run for the Saints.  In the fifth, SF broke the game open with three runs on RBI by Miranda, Brett Bozeman and Jardian Thomas.

The Saints weren’t done scoring and piled on six more in the sixth on the strength of a three run HR by Miranda and a two run HR by Jardian Thomas.  The other run scored on a wild pitch.

Miranda led the offense going 2-for-4 with a HR and six RBI.  Thomas had one of his best games of the season, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI and Austin Lawrence was 2-for-4.
