SAINTS EARN A ROAD WIN AGAINST HILLSBOROUGH, 75-60
Tampa, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (15-10, 7-1 MFC) cruised to another Mid-Florida Conference road victory on Wednesday night in Tampa, defeating Hillsborough CC 75-60. SF is 5-0 on the road in conference and has now defeated HCC twice this season.
The game was close throughout the first half until SF put together a small run at the end of the period to take a 37-31 lead into the break.
The Saints pulled away in the second half led by Stephanie Edwards who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Jasmine Blakemore also scored in double figures with 12 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Demisha Mills finished with 10 points, Leandra King had nine points, 11 rebounds and three blocks and Stephenie Coney scored nine points to go with five assists.
“We played with great energy over stretches of the game but we have to learn to keep the pressure on for 40 minutes,” said SF coach Chanda Stebbins. “We have a big matchup with Daytona on Saturday and we will have to play very well to get a win.”
The Saints battle Daytona in Gainesville on Saturday, February 5 at 2:00pm. SF won in Daytona earlier this season 58-53. The game can be watched live on www.psblive.com.
