SANTA FE TOO MUCH FOR CALHOUN, SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER 3-0 AND 7-0

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe pitcher Colena Lazar kept Calhoun CC in check in game one of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader 3-0 win and Jasmine Warren and Stephanie Cameron shut down the Warhawks in game two, 7-0.

The Saints (24-7, 5-1 MFC) scored three runs in game one on nine hits. Alaysia Miller knocked in Jasmine Warren in the first inning to open the scoring and SF added two insurance runs in the fifth on a two RBI single by Miller.

Warren finished game one 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Alaysia Miller was 3-for-3 with three RBI and Colesa Lazar was 1-for-3 with a double.

Santa Fe exploded in the second game, scoring seven runs on 11 hits, including homeruns by Gia Tomossone and Ashley Holton and a triple by Erika Garcia. A four run fifth blew the game open.

Miller started the frame with a single and Tomossone followed with a double. Two batters later Holton knocked them both in with a double to the gap. Erika GArcoa kept the rally going with a triple and Colesa Lazar finished the scoring with an RBI single.

Tomossone finished game two 3-for-4 with a double and homerun, Ashley Holton was 3-for-3 Alaysia Miller was 2-for-4 and Erika Garcia finished 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

The Saints battle Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday afternoon in Gainesville with first place in the MFC on the line. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
