Gainesville, FL – Colena Lazar was dominant in game one of a double header against MFC rival Seminole State College on Saturday afternoon, holding the Raiders to one run on three hits with six strikeouts. SSC bounced back in game two, earning a 5-3 come from behind victory.

The Saints (22-7, 5-1 MFC) took the early lead in game one when Jasmine Warren scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Ashley Curry. Seminole tied the game in the fourth, but SF answered in the bottom of the fifth with three runs.

Jaimee Vega plated the first run with a double and Alaysia Miller knocked in two with a single to make it 4-1. That was all the support Lazar needed as she shut down the Raiders over the final two innings to secure the win.

Gia Tomossone opened the scoring in game two with a double in the second inning to give SF a 1-0 lead. SSC rallied in the third to tie the game but the Saints scratched another run across in the fourth on a sac fly by Tomossone to regain the lead 2-1.

Seminole would not be denied however and in the sixth they blasted a two run homerun to take a 3-2 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, Alaysia Miller even things up when she hit a towering homer to center field.

Colena Lazar relieved starter Jasmine Warren in the seventh and shut the Raiders down, leaving the door open for a SF win. The Saints put a runner on third with no one out but failed to capitalize, giving the opportunity back to Seminole.

The Raiders came through in the top of the eighth with another two run homerun for the 5-3 lead and the eventual win.

Tomossone finished the day 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI, Colesa Lazar was 3-for-6 and Alaysia Miller was 3-for-6 with a homerun and three RBI.

The Saints host Calhoun CC (AL) on Sunday, March 20 in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
