SAINTS ROLL PAST SEMINOLE 11-5, DENMARK DRIVES IN SIX

Box Score

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints continued to roll along on Monday, upending the Seminole State College Raiders 11-5 behind a six RBI day from first baseman Caleb Denmark.  The win is the 11th in a row for the Saints (31-8, 13-2 MFC) and moves them three games ahead of College of Central Florida (25-14, 10-5 MFC) in the Mid-Florida Conference race.  During their 11 game win streak, SF has outscored their opponents 103-36.

Denmark knocked in the first five runs for Santa Fe, including a third inning grand slam to put the Saints ahead 5-0.

In the fourth, Mallex Smith tripled to make the score 6-0 and Shane Kennedy followed him with a double to push the lead to 7-0.  Denmark plated his sixth run of the game to finish the inning and put Santa Fe out in front 8-0.

Seminole got on the board in the fifth, but SF answered right back in the sixth inning with three more runs without collecting a hit.  The Raiders walked five, and the runs scored on a passed ball, a sac fly by Jacob Tillotson and a bases loaded walk.

SSC tried to stay in the game with three runs in the seventh, but another strong effort by the bullpen shut the door on any chance of a Raider rally.  Felix Roque pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless ball and Denmark finished the game with a scoreless ninth.

Ryan Yarbrough (7-1, 2.18 ERA) started on the hill and collected his seventh win of the season.  As a staff, the Saints have a 2.18 ERA and have only one pitcher with an ERA above 3.00.

Denmark finished the game 2-for-5 with a grand slam and six RBI and Mallex Smith was 3-for-3 with four runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base, giving him 25 on the season.

The Saints return home on Wednesday, April 4 for a MFC match-up against Lake Sumter CC at 3:00 PM.
