Congrats to the Saleha Huuda Cheerleader Scholarship Recipients

Two Santa Fe College cheerleaders have received the second annual Saleha Huuda Cheerleader Scholarship. Kristin Nolton and Michelle Pinedo were selected for the $300 scholarship based on their fall term GPA, leadership and dedication to the squad, athletic department and SF. Kristin is a freshman from Naples, Fla. and is pursuing an associate’s degree in elementary education. Michelle is a sophomore from Fort Myers, Fla. and is pursuing an associate’s degree in health sciences.

The scholarship is named for Saleha Huuda, who was a cheerleader at SF during the 2007-2008 athletic season. A native of Ghana who came to the United States as a young girl, Saleha graduated from P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School and then, in 2009, from SF. At the time of her death in December 2010, she was a 21-year-old senior at the University of Florida majoring in family, youth and community sciences and was also a member of the competitive cheerleading squad.
