SF BASKETBALL – 2/15/2013
Gainesville, FL – The men’s and women’s basketball teams play at home Saturday afternoon against Mid-Florida Conference rivals College of Central Florida. The game will be the last home game of the season for the women, while the men still have one left next Wednesday.
The women start things off at 2:00 PM against the Patriots, needing a win to clinch a spot in the FCSAA Tournament. CF is eliminated from post season contention but will look to spoil the Saints plans. While the Patriots have struggled this season, posting a 5-22 record and a 2-8 mark in conference play, they got the best of SF the last time the two teams met in Ocala 75-63. Santa Fe took the first meeting in Gainesville 68-54.
Saints forward Paulina Zaveckaite is coming off a 27 rebound performance against Daytona that saw her set the school record for rebounds in a single season. She now has 451 and counting.
The nation’s leading scorer Bobby Hunter and the men will face a tougher challenge in the FCSAA #1 ranked Patriots at 4:00 PM. CF has run off 19 straight wins and currently has a record of 25-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the MFC, having already clinched the conference championship. The Saints played them close the last time in Ocala, falling 92-86 in the final minutes on February 2.
For fans that can’t attend, www.psblive.com will carry the game live via streaming video.
