Fastpitch Splits Double Header with Seminole State

Amber Maxey tossed six innings in game two to earn the win

Gainesville, FL – Seminole State took game one of a double header against Santa Fe College Saturday afternoon, needing eleven innings to pull out a 1-0 win.  Karla Claudio took the loss for SF despite allowing just one hit in eleven innings.  She struck out 15 and didn’t walk a single batter.

The lone run for Seminole came on a sacrifice fly in the eleventh after starting the frame with a runner on second due to the international tiebreaker.  Sid Masso had a solid game, going 3-for-5, the only Santa Fe batter with more than one hit.

The Saints (18-11, 5-1 MFC) pulled out game two 2-0 on the strength of a two run Karla Claudio homerun in the third.  Amber Maxey started and pitched into the seventh inning but after allowing the first two batters to reach, gave way t0 Claudio who setting down three straight batters to secure the save.  The win keeps Santa Fe in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference.

Santa Fe plays their next double header on the road in non-conference action against South Florida State College on Tuesday, March 19 at 5:00 PM.
