Wish Upon a Star Holiday Gift Drive Kickoff Event Nov. 15

Wish Upon a Star Holiday Gift Drive Kickoff Event Nov. 15

Wish Upon a Star is an annual program designed by Partnership for Strong Families (PFSF) to provide holiday gifts to children in the Florida foster care system. Participants in the program write down three wishes they would like for the holidays on a star listing their name, gender, race and age.

Sponsors selecting a star provide two of the three wishes, for a financial commitment of approximately $50 per child. Stars will be available for selection at this Wish Upon a Star Kick Off event Thursday, Nov. 14 from 4-7 p.m. in the Santa Fe Gallery (located in M147). Hors d’oevres will be provided by the Office of Civic Engagement and Service.

Faculty, staff, students, departments, groups and clubs are encouraged to attend and select stars for sponsorship. Gift items (with attached star identifying the intended recipient) should be forwarded to Kimberly Buchholz, Office of Civic Engagement and Service, S-137 or S Building Front Desk, by Monday, Dec. 1, in order to be delivered to recipients by the holidays.

In 2012, SF College sponsored 103 stars – let’s meet and beat that number in 2013. The individual or group sponsoring the most stars will be featured on the OCES website and Facebook page (please take a photo with your donations and a sign showing your group name before forwarding gifts!) Students interested in volunteering at the PFSF Gift Drive collection at Northwest Baptist Church Tuesday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 5, 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., are encouraged to contact Patty Carroll, PFSF Community Relations Assistant, at patricia.carroll@pfsf.org.

Stars still needing sponsorship after the Kick off Event will be available in the S Building lobby from Nov. 15 until they are all selected.
