Baseball Splits Double Header with Miami Dade

Brady Price picked up the first win of his collegiate career with four hitless innings

The Santa Fe Saints took the first game of a double header 6-5 on Friday afternoon at Miami Dade College and dropped the second game 14-2.  Brady Price (1-0) picked up the win in the first half of the DH with four hitless innings.  He surrendered one unearned run and struck out four.

Santa Fe (6-6) plated two runs in the first inning of game one on RBI by Roger Gonzalez and Jonathan Camp and added two more in the fourth on RBI by Casey Scoggins and George Ragsdale.

The Saints added to their lead in the fifth with a Payson Smith RBI single and another in the sixth on Gonzalez second RBI.

Miami Dade trailed 6-1 going into the final half inning and made things interesting, plating four runs on reliever Derek Vail.  Coach Johnny Wiggs turned to closer Jeremy Graf for the final two outs and he shut the door to earn his second save.

Jonathan Camp finished the game 3-for-4 with a RBI, Evan Barnes was 2-for-2, Payson Smith was 2-for-2 with a RBI, and George Ragsdale was 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Game two was a different story as MDC came out hot and put the Saints away with a 13 run second inning in route to the 14-2 victory.  Jose Batatino took the loss, allowing four runs in 1.1 innings.

The Saints will stay down south and battle Broward College on Saturday, Feb. 22 in a double header scheduled to start at noon.
